Yes, Google traffic has taken a hit for a lot of bloggers – AI Overviews in search results mean fewer clicks even when you rank well, and that’s not going to reverse anytime soon.
But the bloggers who are doing well now have done two things: they’ve diversified where their traffic comes from, and they’ve diversified how they earn from it.
If you’re wondering whether blogging is still worth starting in 2026, the short answer is yes – with the right strategy, it absolutely is.
Good to know: You don’t need massive traffic to make good money blogging anymore – a focused niche and multiple income streams matter far more than raw pageview numbers.

Before getting into the income streams, if you don’t have a blog yet, you’ll want to get that set up first – and it’s much easier than most people think.

Best ways to make money from a blog in 2026
Most successful bloggers don’t rely on just one income stream – the goal is to stack several of these so that your income stays stable even when one channel has a slow month.
Here’s what’s actually working right now.
1. Display advertising
Display ads are the most passive income stream a blogger can have – once you’re approved for an ad network, you earn money every time someone visits your site, without having to do anything extra.
The most beginner-accessible ad network is Google AdSense, but the earnings are low – most bloggers aim to qualify for premium networks like Mediavine (currently requiring 50,000 sessions per month) or Raptive, which pay significantly higher RPMs (revenue per thousand impressions).
(Personally, I wouldn’t bother with AdSense.)

Unlike Google, Pinterest rewards consistent pinning and fresh content rather than backlinks and domain authority, which means newer blogs can compete on much more level footing with older, more established sites.
