That is, you want to pin when your audience is online and enough so they see your pins but not too much, otherwise the algorithm will stop showing your content. It’s a tricky balance, which is why spending a bit of money upfront for some training can help you learn how to grow your audience quickly.

When Pinterest users conduct searches, if their search terms match your blog post, ideally, your post will show up in their searches. Does Amazon allow Pinterest links?
Amazon does allow Pinterest links with some limitations. In particular, it’s important to make sure that you’re complying with the relevant guidelines. Otherwise, you can be banned from the Amazon Associates program, which does happen fairly frequently with no notice, even if people haven’t received a warning in the past.
It’s a reasonable question to ask whether or not you can use Amazon affiliate links to make money on Pinterest as it’s definitely confusing.
Reddit users who have contacted Amazon for guidance on this have gotten different answers, so the jury is out on this. Most experts seem to have come to the consensus that for the EU/UK Amazon Associates Program, you can use Pinterest, but the U.S. program doesn’t allow it.
Based on this information, we recommend that you either don’t post Amazon Associates links to Pinterest, because violating any Amazon policy can result in you losing your account, or be very careful when doing so.
(That said, you can definitely put Amazon affiliate links in articles on your own website and then link to those articles from Pinterest!)
Key information for making money on Pinterest with affiliate marketing
Here is some information you need to know before you get started with affiliate marketing on Pinterest.
- Some companies don’t allow you to post their affiliate links on Pinterest. Be sure to check the terms of service of the companies you partner with.
- There are companies that don’t allow their affiliate partners to use images from their websites to create pins. For example, Amazon is a huge affiliate partner and they don’t allow this.
- Never shorten the affiliate link (for example with bit.ly) when you post affiliate links on Pinterest. Pinterest wants as much transparency about affiliate marketing as possible.
- Always disclose your affiliate relationship, which is required by the Federal Trade Commission. One easy way to do this is to put #affiliatelink or #affiliate in your pin.
- Don’t make affiliate marketing on Pinterest your only source of online income. At first, Pinterest allowed affiliate marketing on their platform but, in 2015, they banned it. Now, they’re allowing it again. For now. If they change their policy again at some point, this could affect your income drastically if affiliate marketing on Pinterest is your primary income. This is why it’s a good idea to not have all of your income tied up in one platform.

However, it’s different in that you’ll make money from people visiting your articles, whether or not they click through and sign up for the advertised item. That is, your pins can direct Pinterest users to your articles that have ads displayed on them, allowing you to make money when they visit those articles.
One rule you want to follow is to not overload your blog with ads. Set some guidelines for yourself and your blog so that you’re giving visitors the best possible experience.
After all, have you ever visited a website that had so many ads that you clicked out immediately? You don’t want your visitors to experience that. For example, you may want to have a blog with no sound video ads.
Another idea is to not allow pop-up ad[s, or at least make sure they’re only popping up as the visitor is leaving the site. Having to exit out of an ad to read content is annoying to visitors.
How to make money on Pinterest with Adsense
To make money on Pinterest with Adsense, you’ll need your own blog, with one of the advantages of this ad platform being that they don’t have a minimum amount of page views. As this means they’re easy to qualify for, Google Adsense can be a good option if your site is new or doesn’t have a large audience yet.
That said, although they also don’t pay that well, and it’s for that reason that I’d actually recommend waiting until you qualify for a higher paying ad network, like Ezoic or Mediavine. However, if you really do want to make money in this way right now, some tips are below:
- First of all, start with Adsense. It’s the easiest ad network to gain acceptance to.
- Be sure to put the ads inside of your posts.
- Limit your in-post ads to two or three (for longer posts).
- Use a plugin like WP-Quads to automatically place your ads. If you forget to manually place ads, you’ll be losing money.
- Make sure your blog is optimized for mobile ads.
8. By selling things
There are a number of ways to make money on Pinterest even if you don’t have a blog. We’ve covered several of those, including affiliate marketing, working as a Pinterest virtual assistant, and more. But another way to make money on Pinterest is by using the platform to sell your own products.
If you want to sell either digital or physical products to make money on Etsy, for example,, Pinterest can be a major part of your marketing process. Selling products online is all about visuals, and Pinterest is the most-used visual social media platform.

For years, Etsy crafters have been pinning their products on Pinterest, and many of us have bought items that we’ve found on Pinterest. If you’re selling on Etsy, you need to be pinning your items on Pinterest.
Make sure you’re pinning from your Etsy shop and not just uploading pins of your products. By pinning directly from your shop, Pinterest users will be directed there to purchase your items.
Alternatively, you can do the same thing by selling things on eBay or Bonanza.
9. Be a Pinterest influencer
